Rainer Koch a pour l'instant gagné toutes les étapes, sauf une des premieres qu'il a laissé à Patrick Malandain. Il compte désormais quasiment 50h d'avance sur ce dernier qui pointe en 2ème position bien talonné par Italo Orru. Sous une chaleur caniculaire, Serge Girard semble avoir quelques soucis sur les dernières étapes, c'est lui qui ferme la marche et non plus les 2 japonais.
